Dr. Zoran Tairovic

There is no art without painting, especially no poetry.
by Aleksandar Potebnja
Zoran Tairovic is a painter, as well as a director, screenwriter, composer... multimedia, or more precisely an intermedia artist, since his works in a certain field of painting, theatre or film always contain elements of other artistic disciplines. In all this, in his synthetic art, he does not necessarily strive to be liked, but takes risks, persists in his own intention, surprises, becomes lonely, often misunderstood and even imperceptible. It is this position behind the scenes that gives him the possibility of complete autonomy and freedom to work the way he wants exclusively.
It is possible that his personal situation helps him to better understand, in an empathic manner and through his growing up, all those who have been insufficiently visibletoday and yesterday and for many centuries, not only individuals but also groups and individual nations. He has devoted himself to the Roma topic from his early paintings, through the first Roma opera and musical to the festival of documentary and art film on this and other related topicsin the Vojvodinian village of Mali Idjoš, the founder and artistic director of which he is. Moreover, that topic escalated into a whole range of topics that stem from each other or touch upon each other. Why?

Because being a member of the Roma population can be understood as a state of mind and because the Roma, today, are an allegory for the whole ephemeral part of the world, regardless of nationality, and that part is huge.
At the same time, the author believes that the future of art lies in
multi-expression and intercultural key, and such an approach lies in the very essence and types of creative expression of Roma. However, he is primarily a painter in the classical sense, but not because of his formal education, as an academic painter, but from the moment he started hiding and drawing in a cupboard as a child on a daily basis (the position of invisibilityagain), and for a number of years and decades in which he created cycles in various media (drawings, graphics, paintings, murals, graphic designs, and more recently sculptures), measuring up his skill, artistic expression, as well as his thought. Thought, which had most challenges in designing and compiling scientific papers, first master’s and then doctoral, with, in fact, the same topic of information transfer based on symbolic images.
