Il titolo del film fa riferimento ad un testo del 14° cerchio, circa il senso mistico della vita. La nube è paradossalmente nello stesso tempo una metafora dell’esclusione e la riconciliazione dell’inconsapevole, o in altre parole, dell'esperienza divina.

The title of the film is a reference of a text of the 14th circle about the mystic way of life. The cloud is paradoxically in the same time a metaphor of the exclusion and the reconciliation of the unknowing, or in other words, of the divine experience.

“Shluq” o “Schirocco” (vento del deserto) è la favola di un uomo che si trova di fronte alla rovina. La vita per lui è un mistero e l’impossibilità di capirla, lo porta in paralisi malinconica. I suoi pensieri vagano attraverso la vastità del deserto, simbolo di eternità, e al tempo stesso lo costringono a vedere sé stesso impotente nella sua piccola sfera di azione e impotente nei confronti dei suoi stessi misteriosi pensieri. L'inasprimento, l’insensibilità, la grossolanità, la brutalità della sua paralisi è imposta sulla sua anima pura e nobile, trasformando la sua vita in una tragedia profonda.

Shluq or Scirocco (easterly desert wind) is the fable of a man who faces potential doom. Life for him is a mystery and it is impossible to understand, leading him into melancholic paralysis. His thoughts wander through the vastness of the desert, a symbol of eternity, and at the same time force him to see himself powerless in his petty sphere of action, and powerless from the very mystery of his thought. The embitterment, callousness, grossness, brutality of his paralysis is imposed on his pure and noble soul, turning his life into a profound tragedy.

“Through the Moss Stuffed Chinks Heard Voices”. Questa video-performance ritrae un’astrazione del corpo, che si moltiplica e sposta il focus su due grandi abeti in decomposizione, che fondendosi ci danno un’immagine significativa dei biologici cicli della foresta. La comparsa dell’umanità cade dentro e fuori dal focus, ricordandoci la vulnerabilità di tutte le forme e le fasi della vita.

Through the Moss Stuffed Chinks Heard Voices… This video-performance portrays an abstraction of the body as it is multiplied and shifts orientation at the crossing of two large decaying spruce trees, merging into and from the simultaneous life and entropy embodied in the seasonal and biological cycles of the forest. The appearance of humanness falls in and out of focus, reminding of the vulnerability of all forms and stages of life.

The Metrics of Coincidence

La vita umana potrebbe essere considerata come un girotondo di coincidenze, o come il risultato di una determinazione biologica o spirituale. Il film “Le metriche della coincidenza” presenta l'essenza di un possibile progetto di una biografia. Seguendo una sorta di percorso attraverso la storia del cinema, una serie di fotogrammi sono stati rimossi dal loro contesto originale e reimpostati in uno nuovo.

Human life might be regarded as a round dance of mer coincidence, or as the result of either natural, or spiritual determination. In the format of found footage, the film 'The Metrics of Coincidence'
presents the essence of a possible design of a biography. By a kind of patchworked parcours through film history, series of frames have been removed from their original context and rearranged into a new one.
Thus a 'biography' has been composed: one that is possible only by the means of film montage and the viewer's imagination.
